1) Club Scratch Race Series -
A series of 5 race days spread throughout a
season (e.g. Summer). It consists of 8 races each day. Usually every second
Saturday (unless otherwise stated on above calendar). Each day is the best 7
out of 8 races and points are accumulated for members based on the best 4 days
out of the 5. Entry fee $2.00 per
day for members, $3.00 for non-members.
2) Club Handicap Race Series -
A series of 4 race days designed to race in
between the Club Scratch Race Days. Also [usually] raced on a Saturday they
involve the Club Handicapper allocating your handicap at the end of each race
day (and thus applying at the next).
3) Club Fun Days
- No entry fees and a chance to sail and enjoy a non race day. A learning
and laughing day!

| Bruce Tantrum has taken
over the production of Electron RC Yachts and is effectively keeping the
name of Des Townson very much alive on the watery radio waves....
so don't hesitate to contact him for any parts you may need or even a new
boat!! All new boats will, of course, be affectionately referred
to as the Electron AD model (After Des). Bless him.

The Futaba race
is coming!!

GHRYC NEWS UPDATE July 2011
The AGM was held on the 19th
July 2011 and a good turnout of some 15 members attended.
Following is the new Committee:
Commodore: Peter Hull
Vice Commodore: Bruce Dickie
Secretary: Bill Boon
Treasurer: Stuart Gross
Committee: John Senior, David Turnbull
and a welcome to Mark Thomas who will also have a new position of Club
Captain. A welcome to Ross Morton. A warm welcome to
returning members to the Committee: Brett May, Mike McLaughlin and
Karl Stachel. Karl is now our local measurer and this will
make life a little easier re: his location.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rob and Tracey
Nelson for their input into the club over the past year.
Needless to say the Committee welcomes comment and suggestions from any member
that promotes the sport and our club.
The Winter Series closes on Saturday 23rd July 2011
and the new spring calendar will be available after our first Committee meeting
on the 2nd August
2011.
Fleets have been strong during winter despite the unbelievable weather and at
times Regency is not easy to sail in. We are set up with a permanent
pram dinghy at the Marina thanks to Bruce and maybe we should get
into the habit of using that facility more often (apart from the fact that it
now holds my transmitter).
I believe we could do with some new members and I ask anyone who talks to
bystanders, friends etc to encourage this. There are some boats for sale.
The Club finances are in good shape with some $5,000 on hand and it was decided
that this amount should be kept on hand for any unexpected expenditure. We
realise we are not a profit making organisation and will need to discuss
disposal of monies in a constructive manner. Promotion of events, etc.
A reminder that Club subscriptions are due. Fees, etc, are the same and an
invoice can be obtained from this website.
Fair sailing to all and let’s keep up the good sportsmanship.

Auckland Championships (via the
Webmaster)
Last weekend (30 & 31 July
2011) around 36 competitors went down to Wattle Farm to battle it out and
GHRYC filled 3 out of the top 4 slots no less. Congrats
to Brett May, Karl Stachel and Mike
McLaughlin for coming 2nd , 3rd and 4th respectively. Well done
chaps that's a fine show from our club. Graham Cross won the
top spot and since he's a North Shore man and ex member of GHRYC we'll
happily claim a piece of that position too - it just means that the top 4 places
all came from North of the bridge - no doubt much to the chagrin of the host
club....!

GHRYC Shirts
 |
These
stunning shirts were produced
in time for the IOM Nationals in Tauranga on 20-22 March 2010. To see
how good they look check out the one modelled here by John Senior the Commodore
(2008-2010) of the GH Radio Yacht Club.
The short sleeve
version shown in the photo is made from breathable material and is not just
cool, it looks cool too!!
They are $35 each
and the long sleeve version made from the 'normal' polo shirt material
is $30. The long sleeve is white on blue which is the complete reverse
to the blue on white of the one our Commodore is wearing in the picture.
