| Yes at last we have someone who has taken
over the production of Electron RC Yachts and is effectively keeping the
name of Des Townson very much alive on the watery radio waves.
His name is Bruce Tantrum so don't hesitate to contact him for any parts you may need or even a new boat!! All new boats will, of course, be affectionately referred to as the Electron AD model (After Des). Bless him.

Firstly I would like to thank John Senior (outgoing Commodore) for a smooth transition with myself as incoming Commodore and would like to thank him for all the hard work he has put into the club over the years. John can be very proud as he is leaving the club in great shape.
Sailing numbers on the lake on Saturdays are at a high with 24 boats sailing in the last Fun Day, and plenty of spectators coming down for a look. It’s great to see everyone enjoying themselves, keep it up.
It has been pointed out to the committee that we are attracting more boats on casual days. The committee have taken this on board and decided to reformat the race days, with the Scratch series becoming 4 out of 5 days, as opposed to the current 4 out of 6. This allows us to be more flexible with the calendar and leaving more weekends for Fun Days, and makes it easier to schedule racing around regattas and long Holiday weekends.
Hobbs Wharf issues are being addressed and we are planning on a few casual days to trial the facility. Moving the buoys will allow us to sail down by the ramp for better access between races and a safer environment to stand and sail from. A decision to sail there will be made early enough to allow the dingy to be available at the Wharf.
It is great to see the points scoring system is working well with multiple boats vying for series wins on the final days in both Scratch and Handicap. The Winter Handicap has really gone to the wire with 7 boats running for the top 3 places on the last day. A credit to the scoring system and handicapper.
Club clothing is still available from Rob Nelson, so get some gear and be proud of your club and what it represents.
I would also like to take the opportunity to welcome Bryce Wood to the club and extend an invitation to all IOM sailors to come and join in anytime on our club days.
I look forward to seeing you all at the lake. Enjoy yourselves and have a few laughs.
Regards
Peter Hull
Commodore

These
stunning shirts were produced
in time for the IOM Nationals in Tauranga on 20-22 March 2010. To see
how good they look check out the one modelled by John Senior the Commodore
(2008-2010) of the GH Radio Yacht Club.
The short sleeve version shown in the photo is made from breathable material and is not just cool, it looks cool too!! They are $35 each and the long sleeve version made from the 'normal' polo shirt material is $30. The long sleeve is white on blue which is the complete reverse to the blue on white of the one our Commodore is wearing in the picture. Contact Tracey Thomas or Rob Nelson on 428 1184 or visionscreenprint@xtra.co.nz to buy one (or more!). Go on, you know you want to!! Sizes S, M , L , XL 2XL and 3XL Please note that caps are also available for $20 each |
