Marine Education evening
Published 17:03 on 31 Jul 2020
Whether it's a yacht or a launch, just about every boat has an engine. And most of us turn the engine on and motor along with our fingers crossed behind our backs that the engine continues to produce that comforting hum. (Or a bit noisier in some cases).
I've been around engines all my life (I was an Austin Apprentice) and I came along on Wednesday so that my wife would understand some of the terminology and reasons why you can do some things and not others and so on.
Wrong. I personally learned so much on Wednesday from Matt's presentation, about how all the marine elements of the engine work together producing that comforting hum. So it's not like a Mini engine at all.it's a lot more complicated, and yet if you follow what Matt was saying, your boat engine can be significantly more reliable. The talk was pitched just right, and really informative. Lots of anecdotes about
his experiences. Timed to perfection and well structured, everyone would have learned stuff on Wednesday. And do you know, there was not a single question that Matt could not answer fully, irrespective of what type of engine.
Looking forward to learning more stuff next Tuesday, August 4th.
