YOU Travel NZ Winter Cruising Race - a personal account from Sarah Morgan
This year our wonderful sailing committee decided to change things up and create even more fun on the water. Enter Mark Foy. Who? I hear many of you ask, well I definitely asked! A man who saw the benefit of all boats crossing the finish line together, regardless of technical boat speed. And consequently we all get to the clubhouse bar together.
Well, maybe I've twisted his handicapping concept slightly but it's definitely worth reading up on this guy and full testament to our wonderful handicapper, Keith Auld, for working out who starts when. With 13 of the 15 starters still racing on the final leg you did great Keith thank you. And thanks to race coordinator Warren Henderson for organising us all so superbly. Add to this, this was my first Mark Foy race and we won!! Nothing beats the excitement of 'hunting down' boats from the back thanks to my amazing female crew...... er, and John, the Skipper! Sarah
