Race 2 of the Taylor & Co Lawyers Ladies Twilight Series 2019 commenced on Wednesday. It appeared the girls were in store for a light wind drifter to start the series, A stark comparison to a fortnight before with SW 35knts and consequently a cancelled Race 1.

As the girls left the marina to refamiliarise themselves with the boats and crew combinations, the Hauraki Gulf was glassy. Race Officer Miles Cross paused for course selection as the wind oscillated, to finally settle in with North Easter. Miles selected Course 1.

The fleet set off for a downwind start - with a 50:50 approach from port & starboard. Glory Days took a big leg to the right before hoisting their extras and keeping hotter angles, with First Priority & Share Delight hoisting theirs with Port Poles &. spinnakers for a deeper run in from the left. Great to see three big blue kites at the beginning of the season.

Starboard roundings throughout the course, with no dramas and clean upwind leg back towards Olympus.

First Priority led the fleet with Glory Days gradually reeling them in with the reaching legs of the triangle. The breeze had freshened to a more lively 15knts & Glory Days managed to pip them at the finish to take Line Honours.

Podium Position: 3rd - First Priority, 2nd - Mayflower, 1st - Glory Day
