Golden Skies so early in the season for Race 3 of the Gulf Habour Marina 2019-2020 Twilight Series

RO Richard Brown selected Course 2 with a starting breeze predominantly from the SW at 13- 18knts and minimal sea-state. Through the evening it was unsettled and eased, so crews had to change their plans for the fluctuating conditions.

An all action start with the 10 boat fleet hitting the line confidently, Young Guns were over & made a swift return, Southern Fun took the pin end & Olympus had plenty of action with Planet X and Platinum peeling off within the final 30 seconds due to pressure from First Priority & Fast Lane beneath them. Azure hit the line at pace climbing the whole fleet before getting squeezed out and forced to tack off to the right.

Rounding the top mark most of the fleet decided on a gybe set move, to hoist Spinnakers back to the start boat. Young Guns led the fleet under hotter angles. The fleet remained fairly compressed throughout the first 3 legs.

The final leg had the boats back on the wind coming into the finish line under golden skies and the past few days of ferocious electric energy, a distant memory. Lucky for us !
