Gulf Harbour Marine Twilight Race 4

Flat waters and 6-10knts of warm Northerly breeze set Race 4 off for the 2019-2020 Gulf Harbour Marina Twilight Series this evening.
RO Richard Brown selected Course 6 with a downwind start and Port Roundings.
Timing the downwind start is always a tricky business, with a split decision for the fleet on whether to cross on starboard or port tack. Starboard tackers crossed first with Planet X & Share Delight hot on their stern, who gybed off to the left hand side of the first leg. Meanwhile First Priority hoisted and set their kite before the line to pick up their pace and sneak through the two of them.
Back upwind to the top mark and the boats were into their groove. Another hoist down towards laid mark B had the majority of the fleet flying extras. Rounding mark B most gybed, and managed to hold their kites, however, with it being slightly tight, timing on when to drop was crucial to minimise losses to leeward.
It was looking as though the breeze may drop through the evening but it held out for the whole fleet to have a decent race.
Southern Fun had a blinder of a final leg, reeling in the front boats, with Planet X just taking Line Honours.
Podium positions: 3rd - Planet X, 2nd - First Priority, 1st - Whirinaki IV
