Gulf Harbour Marina Twilight Series Race 1

A windy spring has resulted in a delayed start to the Gulf Habour Marina Twilight Series with Race 1 cancelled a fortnight ago. Race 2 commenced this evening in lively conditions. A SSW breeze of 14- 21knts and the odd squall to negotiate kept the 10 of 14 entries on their toes. Race Officer Richard Brown hoisted Y-Flag & selected Course 2 (ABABCA - port roundings) The start-line was contested fairly and with pace

Nakoni was late to reach the start line, but fortuitously Weiti Control postponed the start by 10 mins. With the SW wind Weiti made a good choice with course 2 to

Another six students from Whangaparaoa College, all of whom had never sailed before, took to the Huaraki Gulf aboard the historic Steinlager 2 for a circumnavigation around Rangitoto and Motutapu in a very fresh NW'ly on Monday 30 th September. 30th Anniversary Celebrations

The hard work of the organisers of our 30th Anniversary celebrations and the willing helpers was rewarded by a magnificent weekend enjoyed by members past and present. Kicking off with a retro burger night in gaily decorated gazebos, then a formal dinner the next night MC'd by Peter Montgomery, who certainly hasn't lost his gift for telling a good story and keeping the audience amused. Barbara Kendall was the guest speaker who like

This time from the South-West with a base of 20knts peaking at 30knts towards the end of the race.
