Optimist Training en mass!
Over 40 Optimists from the New Zealand Optimist Dinghy Association ( NZODA) Development Camp took advantage of the Club Facilities and on the water at Gulf Harbour. A team of very supportive parents were also kept busy with launch and recovery duties.

Fun and Frolics!
Fun and frolics was the order of the day last weekend; Friday night was quiz night and Sunday fun in the park. Plenty of laughter and fun was shared! For the quiz night we had over 50 members and guests for the first of our monthly winter quiz evenings. Following a delicious buffet, our new Quiz Master/Mistress team of Diana, Sue and Greg did a great job of keeping us entertained, the winning team delighted

Anyone for boules?
Easter Saturday provided idyllic conditions for the Brian Holgate memorial Pétanque Challenge . Shark Bay was the location, offering a perfect pitch for the competitors to fight hard for the trophy. Many rounds involved our meticulous measurer to check whether stripes or spots had the winning throw! Once again, very grateful and blessed to be able to socialise and share such fun times in such a beautiful setting

Race 9 of the Gulf Harbour Marina & Auckland Engineering Supplies Twilight Series
11 boats started with RO Richard Brown coordinating the evenings entertainment. 10 finished. With a South Easterly 12knt breeze, Course 5 with Starboard roundings had the fleet head out towards the Gulf Harbour Mark. After a clean start those taking the right hand side made most gains. Several kites hoisted for the first downwind leg before another upwind leg with similar outcomes to the first. The reach towards a setting sun camouflaged the orange Mark

A TOAST TO THE WINNERS!
After a weekend of cruising on the water, our members gathered at the clubhouse for a BBQ to toast Emirates Team NZ! Burnsco Cruising Series - Race 7
Last Sunday saw seven yachts start race seven of the Burnsco Summer Cruising Series, from Kawau Island back to Gulf Harbour. A GPS start at 11.00 am in 13 to 15 knots of SE wind had the boats of to a fast start, although a couple of skippers miss-judged the time it took to get to the start line, and as a result were somewhat late.
