    Hibiscus Marine Solutions Winter Race 8

    1300hrs and 1305hrs on Sunday 13th September saw 11 white and 7 gold division boats on their respective start lines for the 2nd to last race of a Covid- 19 affected winter series. (Three races out of the originally programmed 10 race series have been lost due to the lockdowns, so far.) 20 to 26 knot southwest wind and flat water enabled everyone to enjoy some great conditions and great racing.     You Travel Winter Cruising Series race 4

    Saturday 5th September saw club yachts back out on the water after the recent Covid restrictions put a hold on our sailing programme, with race 4, the last race in the You Travel Winter Cruising Series getting underway in cool but otherwise lovely early spring weather.   • Club Re-opening

    The club will remain closed under level 3 restrictions and there will be no racing on Sunday, 30th. The good news is that we will re-open on Monday 31st with normal opening hours, but with level 2 protocols in place.

    Last night Matt gave another of his insightful talks about stuff you should know when you own or use a boat. Yesterday the subject matter was Electrics. Statistically by far the largest causes of fires on boats are faulty electrics, and Matt provided clear examples about good electrical practise (and scary examples of bad practise).   • Cruising to Juneau and beyond

    About 40 plus people enjoyed the fascinating talk by Mike Pigneguy about his and Dee's many cruises to Juneau and beyond. Mike's tales of beautiful deep water anchorages, strong tides, whirlpools, waterfalls, glaciers, ancient carvings and incredible wild Life and sea creatures were accompanied with wonderful photos.Not many of us would have been brave enough to get the close up shots of the various bears, knowing how fast they can move!
