Marsden Cove Marina - Route 66 Race - Friday 6th March 2020

The Marsden Cove Marina Route 66 is Richmond Yacht Club's 'short' coastal race 66nm from Auckland to Marsden Cove, Whangarei. There is also a start from Gulf Harbour. With a 09:00hrs start you'll finish Friday evening with time to join in the party at Marsden Cove Marina. It is a great introduction to coastal racing for new boats as the safety requirements are Cat 4+ and the fleet stays within the barrier islands. The Organising Authorities strongly recommended that ALL yachts carry a dinghy (or life raft) to meet YNZ SR Cat 3 standards.

Berthing at Marsden Cove?
Berthage is provided at Marsden Cove Marina to race boats from arrival Friday night to departure on Saturday. If you need more time please contact the marina. On arrival a berthing master will be on hand to direct you to your berth. The marina can accommodate multihulls with ease! You need to be able to provide proof of third party insurance on arrival, and ensure you've cleaned your hull. Check out the Marsden Cove Marina facilities and Marina Map

Party, Breakfast, and Prizegiving?
The dock party after the race is always memorable, be sure to come up to join in the fun. Boats are encouraged to have a great time on arrival at Marsden Cove but please be respectful of the marina and the people working and staying there. OYC cooks up a fantastic breakfast starting at 08:00hrs bring cash and go to the events tent to get your plate. The prizegiving follows at 09:00hrs

Party at Kawau Saturday Night?
After the success of the 2018 and 2019 event, we are again planning a party for returning boats at Kawau Boating Club for Saturday night. The basics are simple: plan to sail to Bon Accord Harbour Saturday after the race and come up to the KBC for a good time that evening. Food, fun, and a special menu for hungry sailors.

Gulf Harbour Start 09:00hrs Division A3
Last year we had 17 boats in division A3 starting from Gulf Harbour. We are expecting another good fleet in 2020
