December
2011/January 2012
So for the second month running the
newsletter came
to me on the first of the month. No I wasn't
still up in Fitzroy Harbour in Great Barrier avoiding the weather - far from
it; no this time I was working over in Fiji would you believe. The
only two times in the year when I am well away from any 'decent' internet
access and the newsletter comes through. Bugger! Such is life
eh.
For those keeping up with my
ramblings about the cloud of ugly black smoke coming out of Celerity last
month it was not blocked injectors causing lots of damage to the old bank
account, rather it was a large flake of rust/paint blocking the exhaust
manifold causing the problem - just as expertly diagnosed by those nice
chaps at Marine Solutions (the old Seaquip). Thanks for fixing her so
swiftly Adam and the guys.
Meanwhile for the many souls
who attended Michael Green's launch of the last in
his Blood Line (originally called the Crucial Gene)
trilogy to do with SARS epidemic, partly
based here at Gulf Harbour and
partly based over in Sevenoaks,
Kent, England and all points in
between, I am sure you weren't disappointed. Michael was his usual
entertaining self, the bar was open and there was finger food being passed
around. What more could you ask for. And I finished the book
during this trip to Fiji and thoroughly enjoyed it. We'd
actually had a special advanced copy for many months and were sworn to
secrecy - should we have had cause to read it in advance, but in the end
there was no need to open the courier parcel before the launch date, so it
was easy to keep the promise and very hard to put it down once opened.
I did in fact start to read it on the plane leaving Auckland and was annoyed
to have to stop when we landed!!
Its a good read. It has
some decent twists built into it and I charge you to buy your own and find
out what happens in the end!!. See Michaels comments on the
newsletter page - especially the fact that he
has met the target he set for donations to Lifeline Auckland.
So the summer sailing season is
here at last and SWKE (She Who Knows everything) seems to be holding up well
enough for the odd day trip out on the boat - at least I hope so. I
hope those of you with boats get to use yours throughout this festive season
and those without manage to hitch a ride or two instead!!
Well that's just
about it for 2011. Just a few shopping days and sleeps left until that
jolly fat red man arrives and throws things down
chimneys. May your Xmas be a peaceful one and 2012
an even better year than 2011 was for you
and your families; wherever they may be.
Cheers
Webmaster
