Labour weekend Cruise
Published 19:47 on 26 Oct 2020
Saturday 24th October 10.00 am saw 14 of the 19 entries in the Burnsco Summer Cruising Series and 1 day entry, take to the start line for race 1, under the watchful eye of the start boat crew of Share Delight, ( big thank you to Mike and Sheryl)
Course 2 was chosen, with an interesting beat to navy buoy, then for some a lay through, but others a couple of tacks through Tiri passage before a fast reach across to Motuora then a tricky beat in a shifty breeze to the finish at the Beehive
The beach gathering on a small pebble beach in Bostaquet Bay on Kawau Island saw 10 of the crews joined by Beryl and Howard Rowland, who have hung up the sailing gloves and are now launch owners, enjoying the late afternoon sun for a few drinks, stories, and prize giving. Who knows this could be the start of something great for the club, with launch owners joining in with the summer cruising series
Great to see new members Mike and Lyn sailing Aldebaran out sailing with the fleet.
Line honours went to Planet X
Podium honours had to altered after the second on handicap retired after realising that they missed going outside of navy buoy.
So Podium was 3rd Planet X, 2nd Glory Days, and well deserved 1st place Knot @ Work
Thanks the Burnsco for their ongoing generous support and sponsorship of this series
