The cause and nature of tides

Mike Pigneguy drew upon his years of experience to deliver a talk that was interesting, informative and practical that covered everything about the New Zealand coastal tides and currents, to what governs the movement of ocean currents the world over. Of special interest was how to calculate 'tidal windows' to make it safe for entering shallow rivers like the Tamaki, Weiti and into Sandspit. Mike's motto is 'The more knowledge people have about the marine environment they play in, the safer it becomes for them and their friends and family, and it becomes more fun!'
