90 not out and sailing on the rail!

Despite an ominous forecast, Race 5 of the Combined GHYC-WBC 2021 Winter Series presented great conditions with Force 3 northerlies and flat waters tucked in beneath the peninsula. A perfectly timed race by Weiti Boating Club allowed all boats to be tied up alongside before the dark grey clouds considerately washed down the decks, meaning we successfully dodged the squalls and wild weather from Saturday. Both fleets started off with no issues. The slightly shorter course had crews on their toes with most the fleet heading up the middle of the course so plenty of tacking. Several extras were hoisted on the triangular legs & a few more on the final downwind. A significant shout-out to Southern Rebel Helmsman Alan Wright, GHYC Patron, who celebrates his 90th birthday today.
