Quick brush up on racing signals

Crews delighted in a warm spring day with a gentle northerly breeze for Race 7 of the Neptune's Gear Ltd and Liquid Laundromat Combined Winter Series. Race Officers Penny, Linda & John Parrish had the start line set up a fair way south of the Peninsula to be in more steady pressure. The white fleet set off at 12:00 with a clean start & made their way towards upwind, bearing 020 to the top mark. The fleet split with those that chose the left side of the course coming out slightly favoured. Hijinx, Kick & Enigma 1 were the first to round with Big Kahoona and Memphis close in their wake. The gold fleet also had a clean start & made their way to the top mark. Plenty of extras were hoisted for the Triangular section of the course, however, with the wind backing to the North West the second side of the triangle was dead downwind favouring the symmetric over the asymmetric set ups. Race Management made a course change to the top mark with a bearing of 350 degree: a few of us may need a brush up on race signals (see image for details). Efficient work from Chase Skipper Sarah and her crew Megan for making these adjustments to the course smoothly & the crew on Toy Shop clearly indicated the course change. Some fun tussles for positions across the two fleets with some close quarter sailing around marks. Thanks to club members back at the club for the post race welcome to enable crews to share stories of on the water antics.
