Are we're off!

Race 4 of the GHYC / WBC combined winter series 2023 went ahead this morning, with Y flag hoisted in anticipation of a building SW breeze. Whilst a little down on fleet numbers this week, those crews who made it out were prepared for an exciting sail. With several races having to be cancelled this winter season due to challenging sea-states & strong winds, getting across the line & heading upwind into 15knts was very welcome. Sure enough the wind built throughout the race with gusts in the high 20´s in the second half. This meant there was some caution with regards to extras hoisted, slab reefs were put in some mains and a few semi-furled genoas for the final upwind leg were used, in attempts to balance boats. Enjoy the changeable skies and on water action in the pictures taken by Megan & Sarah in between mark laying duties. Big thanks to the race support crew on the water in these trickier conditions, and on the land for the roaring fire and sausage sizzle in the club rooms.
