Burnsco Race 2

With a WBC start in Arkles Bay for Race 2 of the Burnsco Summer Cruising, Mayflower was the only boat in the 12 strong fleet to start on starboard in a light N/NE breeze. It looked like Hinemaia was heading to Kawau by mistake but then the wind died and the rest of the fleet drifted towards Rakino. However, after an hour the wind picked up to provide a very enjoyable sail, but not before we heard Hinemaia on the VHF say there was a great breeze off to the east, and she stormed to a convincing win at Motuihe before leading us all to a safe overnight anchorage in Islington Bay. All crews made it ashore for some inter-club socialising, race results and day prizes. A perfect end to the day was joining Satisfaction or Glory Days who both managed to show the Rugby World Cup final - a great thank you to them both - and probably an apology due to all other boats in the bay for keeping them awake with our cheering on of the Black Ferns. Well done girls!! Results: 1st on line: Satisfaction 11, Handicap 1st: Mayflower, 2nd: Toranui, 3rd: Glory Days
