Christmas Cheer beats the rain!

Race 4 of the Burnsco Cruising series took place on Saturday, the annual Christmas beach bash. With a Northerly forecast Weiti Boating Club chose Islington Bay as the destination. The boats headed off in light winds, the majority deciding to hug the coast to keep out of the outgoing tide. Satisfaction bucked the trend, taking a more direct route and taking line honours as a result. After fickle winds, the breeze kicked in, helping the boats to cross the line within half an hour of each other. Pickpocket (affectionately renamed Pocket rocket) first on handicap, Satisfaction 2nd, with Toronui coming a close third, only 12 seconds behind. The annual Christmas singalong went ahead under the gazebo as the heavens opened, but spirits weren't dampened and some great Christmas tunes rang out, thanks to Peter taking his guitar. Lots of fun and laughter shared.
