Talk by the Lanigans

Members and guests at the club last night were transported to exotic places listening to the talk given by Mike and Sheryl Lanigan about their voyage on board a Catamaran, commencing from the Caribbean to the Galapagos, and then 3,000 miles across the Pacific to French Polynesia. The photos on the big screen illustrated the scary moments - passing through the locks in the Panama Canal, watching approaching thunderstorms, and huge seals taking over the cockpit and decks of the boats in the Galapagos. In contrast, the photos of colourful Panama, glorious sunrises and sunsets at sea, a cracking sail in good breezes and white sand beaches, had us all sighing with envy. Mike made us laugh talking about the language difficulties they encountered, with Mike trying to buy contact glue to effect repairs and Sheryl mistakenly ordering 5 eggs for Mike's breakfast!
An amazing experience and we were all incredibly grateful to Mike and Sheryl for sharing it with us.
