    Optimists Development Camp at GHYC

    The NZIODA Development Camp took place at Gulf Harbour over this past weekend with 25 sailors and parents staying together with their coaches for three great days of sailing in preparation for international regattas overseas for the first time since 2019.

    Thanks to all the people who participated in one way or another to make such a success of the Boat Bits & Car Boot sale. The wonderful weather, great bargains and tasty treats made everyone smile, and the fundraiser for Starship Foundation oncology Ward 27 raised enough to purchase some much needed furniture to make Life more comfortable for the young patients and their families

    Barfoot and Thompson Race - Final Race

    A fleet of 8 boats set sail for the final race of the Barfoot & Thompson two-handed series, run in conjunction with Weiti Boating Club. RO John Bruce set Course 23, a 20+nm route taking them round McKenzie Buoy. The challenging and blustery conditions saw the longer waterline boats lead the fleet, the sea state making for some uncomfortable sailing in smaller boats. Line Honours: Satisfaction 2. Results: 1 st Satisfaction 2, 2 nd

  • Quiz Night

    Team Dragonslayers were victorious beating seven other teams for bragging rights at the St George's Night Quiz. Rebus Ravers were a creditable second and Jude's Army third. A great traditional Roast Beef & Yorkshire pud buffet dinner set everyone up for the challenge, with 9 different subject rounds.     A weekend of two halves

    The final race of the Burnsco Summer Cruising Series saw a fleet of 23 boats bound for Kawau Island. Two champagne days of sailing was followed by fierce easterlies, resulting in the fleet retreating to four rope bay early Easter Sunday morning.

    Hawaiian Pirates

    The final race of the Taylor & Co Lawyers Twilight Series was full of jolly rogers and grass skirts as the traditional fancy dress continues to mark the end of the season. Thx to the Race Committee for managing us through the challenging season!
