A fleet of 23 boats set out at 1830 from the start off Arkles Bay in the cruising race combined with Weiti Boating Club. The light SW wind made for frustratingly slow

progress as most boats gull-winged their way towards Tiri and the Navy Buoy. Skippers began to wonder if they

would find an anchorage in the dark but then progress improved on a reach through the Tiri Channel. Pleasingly the

wind increased providing excellent reaching conditions for the final leg to Mahurangi, everyone enjoying the wind in

their hair as they watched a colourful sunset, with the last boat finishing just on dark. Prizegiving was held on

Saturday afternoon at Scotts Landing.
